By the end of 2017, more than 15.000 car owners demanded repayment of the purchase price of their manipulated VW diesels via myright – the damages at the time amounted to more than 350 million euros. Including interest, the two lawsuits involve more than one billion euros, the lawyer said.
In the diesel scandal, the VW group is facing a large number of lawsuits – in addition to civil lawsuits from car owners who feel they have been traded in, there are also lawsuits from investors and shareholders. Criminal investigations are also underway.
According to VW, most of the lawsuits filed by affected car owners have been dismissed so far. In many cases, the car manufacturer reached a settlement with a payment to the plaintiffs. In addition, affected car owners can join a sample procedure, with which the consumer centers and the ADAC want to establish a basic claim for damages.
