New forces at ebern’s top square

Eckehard kiesewetter ebern – "babbling with the people, that’s just part of it!" In this respect, alexander "alex" baginski, since december the new groundsman at the mobile home site in ebern, is no different from his predecessor hans elflein. And the guests appreciate it. "The alex is trying hard, everything is fine", says horst hauser from friedberg (hesse), who has been working with his wife heidrun for "at least 15 to 20 years" four to five times a year he is stationed at the "top-platz" in ebern in ebern. "We feel at home here", say the two.

"Everything is wonderful", alois and katja maier from fuldatal (hesse), who have been loyal to ebern for 26 years, are also of the same opinion. Three to four times a year, the couple comes and stays for at least two weeks. The alex and his new colleague, florian dominka (since 1. February) the two met on sunday. Of course, hans elflein, whom the regular guests have taken to their hearts during his 17 years of service as groundsman, but who had to stop in 2018 for health reasons, has already said "hello" said. "The hans is always welcome", says baginski, because this is a "wonderful transition" for all involved emerge. And elflein’s knowledge is in demand when a larger group of vacationers arrives with special parking space requests.

Baginski, 51, retired in 2014 and is happy to have found a job that brings him back together with people. Most recently, the married father of a daughter was primarily a househusband. Before that lay an eventful professional life: MAN, the german armed forces, FTE, a car dealership and a glazier’s shop were stations in his career. Then he sold toys in the sales department in heubach and was a self-employed sales representative for hygiene products. As an employee of a waste disposal company, he had the accident that crushed his right hand and left him unable to work.

Two years ago, a multiple sclerosis illness forced florian dominka, a trained wood sculptor from ebern, to give up his job as a carpenter after 20 years of service. Since then, he has been fighting with the pension insurance fund to have his disability recognized. The task at the mobile home park came at the right time. "It’s fun, says the 44-year-old "it can be done even with my illness and above all you do something for your town". He and baginski are pleased to be accepted by the holidaymakers, even if some things are a little different now. The personal touch is as important for the supervisors as an open ear for the concerns of the guests. The tourism commissioner helen zwinkmann and bernd ebert from the tourist information office are very pleased about the development.

Thanks to baginski, the difficult search for a cleaner for the chemical toilet has been solved for the city. The groundsman will take care of it himself. "If you’ve ever had to teach women how to clean for a living, it’s no longer a challenge.", he says.

The new team also includes florian dominka’s dog "baby" – not a fighting dog as some might think at first sight of the french bulldog. "More like the "smaller exportation", says alex baginski and dominka assures: "a lovely animal, a huggy dog".
